Drama Drama Everywhere

So not only am I part of a web group of Mommies, I'm also part of a local group as well. The main reason I joined is because I'm a stay at home Mom with a very active toddler who desperately NEEDS the social interaction. So we go twice a week, bring a few toys to share, see the other kids. It gives her a chance to play with kids her own age and I get some much needed adult conversation. You know you need adult conversation when your significant other comes in the door and you say "Look Daddy's home! Hi Daddy!" instead of "Hey honey, I'm happy to see you!"

Anyway, today at playgroup there was a Mom there who brought her little 4 year old and a 9 month old baby she was sitting for. Said Mom spreads a blanket on the floor, plops baby on it, and then proceeds to yell at ANY child who inadvertently gets too close "DON'T step on the BLANKET!" Her poor little 4 year old came over to give the baby a hug and the Mom says "Too close too the baby! Don't touch her!" Can you imagine what went through that poor kids mind? I felt really bad for the little girl, so I told her to come over and play with my kid on another section of the floor. The sweet child comes over to me and says "My Mommy doesn't love me anymore because the baby is here." It almost brought me to tears. She snuggled in my lap for almost 15 minutes. I may seriously have to pound some sense into this woman if she comes and does this again. What a wench.

This week I'm going to try to focus on my needs as well. When you've got a kid, there's a tendency to put yourself in the background in every facet imaginable. I'd like just an hour to paint my toenails, and look pretty.

I'm glad you were there to give the poor girl some much-needed cuddles!
